Packaged chicken salad recalled due to potential allergen hazard
California-based Taylor Farms Pacific has issued a recall for more than 600 pounds of its packaged chicken salad due to a labeling error that failed to alert consumers to the presence of egg, a possibly life-threatening allergen, in the dressing sold with the salad.
The affected product, labeled as "Signature Cafe BBQ Flavored Ranch Salad with Chicken," was sold in stores in California and Nevada. Consumers should check the label for the establishment number "P-34013" inside the USDA mark of inspection, along with a use-by date of June 14, 2013.
The company attributes the mistake to a misbranding error, claiming that labels designed for a different product were accidentally affixed to the salad, and that they have received no reports of illnesses or adverse reactions related to consumption of the mislabeled product.
